چکیده

The selective oxidation of methane to methanol is a key challenge in catalysis. Iron and copper modified ZSM-5 catalysts are shown to be effective for this reaction using H2O2 as the oxidant under continuous flow operation. Co-impregnation of ZSM-5 with Fe and Cu by chemical vapour impregnation yielded catalysts that showed high selectivity to methanol (> 92% selectivity, 0.5 % conversion), as the only product in the liquid phase. The catalysts investigated did not deactivate during continuous reaction, and methanol selectivity remained high. The effect of reaction pressure, temperature, hydrogen peroxide concentration and catalyst mass were investigated. An increase in any of these led to increased methane conversion, with high methanol selectivity (≥ 73 %) maintained throughout. Catalysts were characterised using DR-FTIR, DR-UV-Vis and Al MAS-NMR spectroscopy.

Improved Efficiency for Partial Oxidation of Methane by Controlled Copper Deposition on Surface‐Modified ZSM‐5

The mono(μ-oxo) dicopper cores present in the pores of Cu-ZSM-5 are active for the partial oxidation of methane to methanol. However, copper on the external surface reduces the ratio of active, selective sites to unselective sites. More efficient catalysts are obtained by controlling the copper deposition during synthesis. Herein, the external exchange sites of ZSM-5 samples were passivated by ...

Non-oxidative conversion of methane to aromatics over modified zeolite catalysts by transitional metals

The activity of different transitional metals over modified H-ZSM-5 catalysts for methane conversion to aromatics was compared. The first group of catalysts was Mo-impregnated H-ZSM-5 zeolites with 1, 3 and 6 wt% of Mo. The second group was M(3 wt%)- impregnated H-ZSM-5 (M: Ag, Cd, Cr, Mo, Zn and Mn). The catalytic activity of the first group was investigated at 600, 700 and 800 °C and gas hour...

Hydrogen production by steam reforming of dimethyle ether over Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 and H-ZSM-5 catalysts: An experimental and modeling study

Hydrogen was produced by steam reforming of dimethyl ether (DME) using a physical mixture of commercial HZSM-5 zeolite (for DME hydrolyzing) and Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 (for methanol steam reforming) as a catalyst in a fixed bed reactor. The experiments were performed at atmospheric pressure and in a temperature range from 270 to 310 °C. The effects of feed temperature and gas hourly space velocity (GHSV)...

Investigation of Methanol Reaction Chemistry on H-ZSM-5 and -11

In order to gain a better understanding of the chemistry of methanl-to-hydro-carbon conversion, it is necessary to determine the nature of the primary reaction products. Experiments carried out in this work on H-ZSM-11, using a continuous flow reactor linked to an on-line gas chromatograph demonstrated that ethylene and methane are the primary reaction products. The results obtained using s...
